This is a somewhat personal page, but I believe writing, editing, music, and songwriting all come from the same creative venue. Below you’ll find some of my work as composer and singer-songwriter.
I have doubted for many years whether this piece was finished or not, and frankly, I still don’t know. I started this work in 2012, and it has been collecting dust since 2013. I wasn’t satisfied with the ending, and now I decided to just cut it. I might write another ending later, but still, I found I like this cut. I call this the 2021 version. 🙂 The Symphonic Poem describes the life of Queen Hadassah (Ester), from her years as an innocent and beautiful girl to her calling to the court of the King and her destiny as the one God chose to save the Jewish people from destruction.
One minute of the most epic music I’ve ever composed.
Composed in 2011, this symphonic poem is still my favorite among my works of orchestral music — Niels C. Kwakernaak, copyeditor and composer.
This song I wrote and arranged when I was seventeen years old — Niels C. Kwakernaak, copyeditor and singer-songwriter.
I wrote all but two of the songs I perform here. I apologize for the poor recording — Niels C. Kwakernaak, copy editor and singer-songwriter.
